What Is The Best H. Upmann Cigars - Serious Cigars Service?

These are fairly inexpensive Cuban cigars but are known as good everyday Cuban smokes. These came from a box with the code so these are fairly young. Seems are nearly invisible and the veins are moderate in size and location. The wrapper is a nice medium darkness with a little toothy feel to it.

The draw seems to be just right...maybe a little open. Time to light the fires and kick the tires! To start you get a slightly burnt toast note that quickly changes to a grassy earth. The finish has a little sweet spice to it, cinnamon and nutmeg. Tons of smoke!!! Soon the creamy flavors come in with a sweet cream and earthy Cuban tobacco taste.

This third is more like the end of the first third. Earth, sweet cream, and some sweet spices are the notable flavors. The finish is short and is pretty mild. The Cuban tobacco flavors remain as the binding flavors to keep this a well balanced cigar. I would not say this is a complex cigar but does have minor transitions.

The last third moved into more spice, white pepper showed on the draw and finish with the earth and sweet spices. The cream is there but not as pronounced. Earth and Cuban tobacco with a slight charcoal note balances the cigar to keep it well blended. The draw did get a little hot towards the end but the flavors remained strong to the very finger burning end.

This cigar performed like I thought it would providing a good to excellent Cuban smoke. This would be the more of a budget Cuban cigar but performed very well. This cigar is also very young, less than a year old, and should get a little better with time. Flavors of cream, Cuban tobacco, earth, and sweet spices are throughout and leave you wanting another one! Great Upmann and I'm looking forward to my next one.

Upmann has mixed reviews. Many prefer the Magnum 46 while the Magnum 48 & 50 tend to be less of a sure thing. These are not known to be more than a medium bodied smoke but do tend to evolve over 3-5 years. These look good so I can’t wait to enjoy them.

The triple cap looks good and the aroma provides muted leather. The wrapper looks to be a high quality leaf and it is packed pretty tight except at the tip of the foot. Pre-lit draw provides a mild earth and cedar with a slightly open draw. (more open than standard) The Magnum 50 brings peanuts and hazelnuts to the palate with an earth and tobacco core flavor.

Soon into this third you get more vegetal notes bringing bell peppers and white pepper to the draw. The finish is black and white pepper but is not long lasting. The body is medium (Although medium full at the very start) and moves to a slightly tangy earth note towards the end of this third.

Very good start…Similar to the first third in many ways…the notes of bell peppers, tangy earth, and black pepper are in the foreground. The finish becomes longer and slightly stronger with earth notes. The burn is good (although others had theirs go out three times!) and the smoke is still heavy and thick.

You still get that tangy Cuban tobacco flavor which is very enjoyable. Well, the performance fell flat in this last third. https://scotchcigars.com. My cigar had to be relit twice in this third and the flavors have become very bland. (Maybe due to youth…) The earth has no tang, bell pepper notes are gone, and the finish is short and muted.

The transitions in this third are not good, the cigar become a lower quality stick at this point. I expected more with this cigar and hoped it would provide good transitions and more complexity. The first two thirds were very nice, not great. The last third really left me wishing it never transitioned.

(Ed had issues due to the band) I expect that these will get better with another year on them and hopefully brings out a stronger nutty flavor in the first third, more tang and cream in the second third, and a more complex earth in the last third. That would be ideal based on the root flavors I found during my experience.
